For Teachers

The Dothan Education Foundation (D.E.F.) provides financial support to Dothan City Schools (DCS) teachers through our annual grant program, and we help promote a positive image by publicizing its achievements and helping the community’s confidence in our public school system.

We serve as a trusted community resource that has the system, its educators and its student’s best interest at the forefront of all we do.

Did you know that since 1995 the D.E.F. has awarded more than $350,000 to Dothan City Schools teachers for special project funding?  These funds have helped purchase classroom technology including e-readers, weather labs, books, lab equipment, and other equipment used to help students learn in a 21st century classroom environment that helps prepare them for the demands of tomorrow’s workforce.

Applying for Grant Funding

The D.E.F. will be providing education grants of up to $2,500 to successful applicants for projects in the 2015-2016 school year, though grant requests above that amount will also be considered.

Application forms for the 2015-16 school year must be postmarked by Monday, June 8, 2015.  Click here for the application form:  2015-2016 Teacher Grant Application

Classroom support

Adopt-A-School! Dothan engages members of civic groups, faith-based groups, not-for-profit organizations, business leaders, the educational community, and all Dothan citizens to form partnerships that support the mission of “Building a Better Community Around Our Schools.”

Teachers, through their school coordinators, convey their needs, and we work to pair those needs with adopters who are willing donate their time, talent, energy, expertise and resources to enhance the educational experiences of their adopted school.  Whether it’s donating materials, helping students with reading, providing guest speakers on career themes, or providing educational field trip opportunities to local work sites, adopters’ efforts can be tailored to benefit schools, classrooms, or specific program activities.

Communication and morale

We are here to listen to you, whether you have an achievement to celebrate, ideas to share, unique needs, or concerns you’d like help to address. We gather this information to confidentially share with system officials, if desired, and help ensure our programs continue to meet the educational needs of the community.

We know educators at all levels are crucial to student success. On behalf of our students and our entire community, we thank you for your hard work in making Dothan City Schools the best school system.

Feel free to contact us anytime. Please become a Friend on Facebook with Yes We Can! Dothan to help stay informed. Also, please consider helping support the D.E.F. through payroll deduction.  Contact the DCS accounting office for a payroll deduction form.  Your support is greatly appreciated.
